Maurine Gubia

You don't always have to understand it, sometimes you just feel it. I love these mixed media works by Maurine Gubia. I love the naive feel, the child like distortion of proportions but hidden beneath the running of colours and distortion/abstraction there is real skill involved. if you look back at her earlier works, they are reall quite detailed and realistic, but her work becomes increasingly more abstracted over time. Wonderful. 

Dark

I love high contrast photographs, with the figures emerging from a dark backgrounds. I've always been fascinated with Carravagio's paintings, and really love the chiaroscuro effect. This is my attempt, however my camera isn't the best at night.

Sun and Grass

Continuing my summer theme this week, it has been getting steadily warmer and reminds me of all the fun times. I decided to revisit some more photos I took last summer.

Martyna Galla

Wow I just discovered this photographer, Martyna Galla, I really like her portraiture work. sIt appears she reduces the saturation in her photography combined with the wistful appearance of her models giving her photographs a dreamy quality. Really beautiful and inspiring work. You can find more of her work  here.
